Dome Keeper

Keep dying on Upside Down Challenge (not Regular)
I'm either spending on my weapon which in turn makes it slower to find iron and cobalt or I'm spending on the suit finding the resources fast but losing the early battles. Either way I lose lol this is the only assignment I've died on. I did the Upside Down Regular easily but on Challenge I've now died at least 10 times. It has to be RNG related because the furthest I got was when I found that satellite cave where you can see through walls. That 300% is truly brutal.

I've tried with and without drones.
I've tried laser, sword, artillery and tesla.
I've tried shield and drones. Assessor and Engineer.

I cannot seem to find a reliable strategy and feel like it has to be the RNG, how fast you find gadgets, which ones appear, etc...

I hate this because everyone is saying it's so easy because "the resources basically fly into the dome" No ♥♥♥♥, that's not the issue. The enemy is just tough as balls.

Not being able to start with an extra gadget really sucks.

This one with its current overtuning is EXTREMELY rng dependent, but here's one example of how you can get it. Let's say using tesla and drones as your starters, you have to find not only resources, but MOST importantly, the first supplement fast, even more important than the first gadget. You need that first supp to upgrade your main weapon to have a chance to hold out for a bit. With tesla it's huge having that and the orb super early, plus offensive drones to help.

If you get the drills as first gadget that's also huge getting triple those mining down then second supp you get the extra side drills on that. This basically lets you fast resource at low depth but also find the end relic quickly to get it ASAP. This one is a race to holdout because of how much it scales up and overwhelms with very little resources and no starter gadget.

You're right and I feel better knowing it's RNG dependant lol I'll just keep trying. Does it matter whether I use engineer or assessor?

It really does. Regular was easy but that 300% on Challenge is no walk in the park.

This is the one I've been stuck on for hours. It got me the "opportunity to learn" achievement in fact >_>. It just seems virtually impossible to beat unless somehow you knew exactly where everything was. I've had runs with a very good start, maxed drones by round 3, etc. The best I've managed in a run is to dig out a single relic node once.

Seems like the trick could be getting the shockwave hammers, but I've never seen them here.

If you go and unlock shock wave hammers in the normal game mode, you can choose to start with them here. They are a godsend. Havent done this challenge on hard yet though.

If you really want, play an esay relic hunt on a small map just to find and unlock them there ;)

Part of the complaint is literally that you don't get you start with any relics for this one particular assignment, but it doesn't seem you read any unimportant details like that.

I did in fact figure this out, though I did not get the hammers on the run I finally won with.

Turns out the stun laser with the supplement that gives it the huge radius can be incredibly helpful when paired with the quick launch battle grid drones. I used the laser to target airborne enemies so it would focus on the ground units.

Interesting. And thanks for being nice about the fact, that I missunderstood that you couldnt start with it. Did you beat it yet?
