No, it's outright terrible. It's a menu that shoudl show you all your options on one screen. They made it into an awful mini game. Just because you like it doesn't mean it's not terrible,
And just because you don't like it doesn't mean its not good. Its not a mini game nor is it trying to be one. I really enjoy it because it is different in a way that is refreshing. You not finding something because you were to much of an impatient child to move around the screen a little is not any different from not being able to find an option in a menu because its under a different tab.
We did a few steps in that direction, for example with a hint that tells you about it. The first time you start you actually should be inside a tiny cave that you need to dig out of first, so that you actually can't miss that you can and should move in the menu. Maybe this is bugged?
I recently picked up the game and only after mining most everything in the setup/menu did i more carefully examine the room and notice the 'start run' area as everything else in the room just more naturally drew my attention.
