If you want to control it like before, disable twin stick in the options.
Using an X-BOX 360 controller that worked perfectly until the last patch (300+ hours, all achievments, top 100 all Prestige modes)
Right after I relized that twin stick control is enabled I turned it off.
Unfortunately that didn't fix all the issues:
Playing with the Assessor, I can pick up resources as before (A button).
Shooting an item/resource seems impossible. I tried to manually remap the key bindings to my preferred settings, the old defaults, but I couldn't get it to work.
At the same time, and I am confident this is connected to the above issue, it is no longer possible to shoot out a sphere.
In case you don't believe me, I even took a screenshot:

I even tried to assign a different button, LB, but this also does not work.
It seems as if I can drop any item with "B" (e.g., Iron. By that, I mean I can drop it in place, without the item/resource moving. This might be useful in some cases, but being unable to shoot kills the Assessor.
The game is unplayable as long as there is no fix for this.
And don't worry, i have no reason to not believe anyone.
Just trying to understand the issue. It might also be Steam Input related, as there are some things that can be changed in there. But that *should* not change just from a patch.
I just tried using the left analog stick instead and this actually works like a charm!
Therefore, I suspect the issue is limited to players you use the D-pad.
Disable "use mouse for keepers" if you want to play with keyboard only.
I did that before I came here initially. It still doesn't work. Thank you for the quick response. Denny Crane.
Can you confirm that your options.txt contains this bit: ""useMouseKeeperGameplay":false"
The file is in your equivalent of C:\Users\reneh\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Dome Keeper
My IT person confirmed "yes." It is contained within the file.
It works very well and it's better than before.
I use this time to tell you that the game is very good, the music is great and the universe amazing. It reminds me a little bit of this old game "Heart of darkness".
Thank you you and your team !
Work well,
Ogrest
thank you, much appreciated :)
I'm always happy to fix things that are not working, but hearing something positive within the negative posts does feel good :D
That's interesting! Really strange though, still can't understand why that would be. Mouse should be irrelevant if playing with controllers. Did the key hints always show gamepad icons?
In any case, i'm glad to hear it worked out.
For the longest time I couldn't trigger orb explosions either. Shoot and gadget keys were not working, turns out it works with the collect key. The game can differentiate between a long press(collect) and a tap(trigger explosion). Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation.
I am not using a "controller." I'm using my keyboard.
