PSA: Black screen on startup (For Windows, Game version 3.1)

If you can't play the game in full screen, or at all, due to a black screen, the issue might be your "stretch mode" setting.

You can change this setting outside of the game through your file explorer at: C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Dome Keeper\options.txt.

Look for " "stretchmode":2 " in the options.txt file and change the 2 to a 1. This may solve the issue.

If you can't find the AppData folder, you can either check the "Hidden items" box found in the view tab near the top left of the file explorer, or type in %appdata% in the search bar on the taskbar to take you directly to the Roaming folder.



Alternatively, if you have an NVIDIA graphics card and the NVIDIA Control Panel, you can open it by right clicking on the desktop and clicking the NVIDIA Control Panel option. You should start on the "Adjust Image Settings with Preview" page, if not, then you can find it under the "3D settings" group on the left side of the window.

On that page, select the "Let the 3D application decide" option under the preview, then click apply on the bottom right of the window. This also may solve the issue.

I had this issue and the options.txt was not in the specified folder. Probably because the game did not boot once.
I'm using AMD GPU (RX 6700 XT to be exact). What I did to get the game to start was to disable all the quality/performance options in Adrenaline.
I had Radeon Image Sharpening and Anti-Lag on by default. Turned those off and the game booted normally.
Hopefully this helps someone else as well.

I got this Game today and have never once successfully launched it. I went through the files but could not find options.txt. I have no mods, Couldn't find "override.cfg" anywhere. Are you using AMD card? If you do, did you try disabling any graphics boost for the game, e.g. Anti-Lag, Image Sharpening etc.?

Just bought this game and im having this issue.
RX5700XT gpu.
Everything is turned off in adrenaline and the stretchmode was already set to 1 (2 didnt work either)

Edit: Forcing Vulkan fixed it, with: --rendering-driver vulkan

I don't know if your still searching for help but I tried all the methods above and nothing worked.

So I tried forcing windowed mode, and it worked! I tried changing back to borderless and fullscreen but it went black again but as long as you don't mind the window border it runs fine.

So follow the instructions pinned up top to get to the options.txt,
Open the file up (you might need to do Format>wordwrap) in notepad and scan through the text till you find :

"fullscreen":true - change/edit it to false
"borderless":true - change/edit it to false

And then save it.

Apologies, I missed this solution on my read through.
Adding "--rendering-driver vulkan" into the Launch options worked for me.

You just gave me back fullscreen! Thank you :)
