Another great info:
Stretchmode:2 is not a file, it is a line of text in the options.txt file. Find and open the options.txt file, then look for stretchmode:2 and change the 2 to a 1.
You could try verifying the integrity of your game files or disabling the Steam overlay.
Is there anything else I can do to try and play this game??
I have never downloaded workshop mods and yet I am having this issue...any help out there would be awesome.
I'm using AMD GPU (RX 6700 XT to be exact). What I did to get the game to start was to disable all the quality/performance options in Adrenaline.
I had Radeon Image Sharpening and Anti-Lag on by default. Turned those off and the game booted normally.
Hopefully this helps someone else as well.
You're a godsend! Everything else didnt work for me, but this did!
