You could reasonably make the case this experience is true of every single feature in the game.
It's good that you can't activate the overdrive mid-wave. instead the game forces you to decide if some extra shield is worth sacrificing your ressources.
The overcharge in general need a tutorial box like many other things already have - but first a simplification for orchard and repellent.
I also can see that it is annoying that you can't use it, when you are 1s late to the battle. So this should be possible too.

Yeah. I also had games where I was very low on HP and didn't find any triangle things to repair. Sacrificing more water for additional safety would be neat. If you end up not needing them, well you wasted more water.
There's no thinking process to be had here, it's simply pre-allocating the water as you exit the chair from the previous battle.
