I remember that when it was released, it got censored to hell and back. It was alot and if some people like to dig a bit, they will find it. Here is an older reddit thread i found about it but the links seem down for me(?).

It's a game about post apocalyptic wasteland, free roaming, tanks, giant bosses and battle dogs, why fixating on censorship so much?

I've had a lot of fun playing Metal Saga back to PS2 times, because gameplay was good, not because it had a lot of sexualised content.

Metal Max Xeno was also a game about a post apocalyptic wasteland, free roaming, tanks, giant bosses, and battle dogs, yet it also had fan service. Why is that a problem? Was Reborn bad for including it? Of course not, right?

It seems that you can unlock Oda's art after finishing the game once (for whatever reason) but the bigger problem is the cut content from the normal game it seems.

Well, part of the reason for the cut CGs would seem to be that they couldn't be bothered getting the new artist to redraw them. I've also never heard whether using the Oda art option restores those CGs or if they're just missing entirely from Reborn.

I don't see fan service as a problem, in fact I like it myself.
However it is not a prerequisite for a game to be good.
OP makes too much drama I think, "Don't overjoy" he says, like game would be boring and useless without some 2D art with half naked girls (why 3D game even need 2D pictures as cutscenes?).
I'm sure many players don't even know who is that Oda guy, or his art and can perfectly enjoy the game with or without his work.

Im sorry, but this is just stupid. You know, there are just little scenes in movies that change the whole feeling of said movies and sure, without the scene they would be a okay movie but far from a good movie.

Oda's art is iconic and for many a reason why the played the original game. It seems that not only ecchi scenes but also some more gruesome CG's were cut. Does it matter? I would say yes, it changes the tone of the game. Can you enjoy FF6 without the scene where Celes gets beaten in jail? Sure. But with it, it changes the whole tone and becomes darker and more serious.

Can someone that doesnt know anything about the series or this remaster enjoy the gameplay? Sure. Can someone that knows why this game was heavily censored still enjoy it? Maybe. I personally cant, because i will know that i play an inferior product compared to the vita version. For anyone that is interested and has a vita: There is an english patch for the original game.

Lastly, to you, the apologetic: You dont care because you give more value to other things in games but you just miss the bigger picture. If you still think the way you think after reading this then so be it. Im sure you will find more arguments that you think are bigbrain but they are refutable as well or this topic wouldnt go back and forth for all these years. We are nothing special and will only bring up points that were already brought up in the past and discussed. This is why i wont bother answering. Be glad that i did though, its rare. What is the point of censorship in the first place, because all I can think of is that someone doesn't want to show you something for whatever reason, which at worst is treating the player like a child thinking you can't handle it.

This is a post apocalyptic, it isn't like bad things don't happen.

And the only sort of censorship I don't mind are one where you have a choice to turn it off.

I don't care about the NSFW art (looks terrible anyway, old games were not about that), but I did hear that a lot of story was removed, also like 70% of enemy types which is concerning.

That said, I tried the Vita version with a translation patch and stopped playing after 2h (empty locations, 0 story and terrible character art), so I doubt they can make the game much worse.
