Considering ideas/criticism in general: I'd only suggest to make more variety in genitalia. I don't know if this is on the effort level of colonizing Mars with hamster pirates since almost no AVN has variety in that aspect, but if it's not too much effort though, I'd highly appreciate a broader variety. Since it's so rare to see in games I'd even buy it as DLC content XD
For me this is actually a big part of immersion in any kind of game. The more characters differ physically, the more the game/story feels real and the more I can get attached to the characters. And well, since this is an AVN, the characters drop their clothing at some point and to see a generic genital asset with little to no difference between the characters heavily breaks the immersion for me.
I don't know how others see this topic, but I'd be really interested if there are people who feel the same about it or if I'm the only person bothered by this :-D
with paying for it knowing your the guy making it. Maybe if you and by extension "us" get the dlc say mid to late next month and you get your gear back things could be set for a sweet summer. Keep your chin up, life has a way of kicking you when your down it's if you stay down that matters.
You should charge something for this prequel for two important reasons. First, although it is a labor of love, it is still labor. Effort should be compensated.
Secondly, I'd like to tell a story about Penn and Teller, a comedy magic act. They used to do free college shows. The crowds were consistently awful. Then Penn insisted that the students pay one dollar to get in. The crowds instantly got better. I'll spare you the psychology behind it, but people appreciated the show more because they had to sacrifice something to get it. Even if it was a small price. So charge something, even if it isn't much. Your consumers will appreciate the show more.
Now I would like to warn you and apologize beforehand, I'm what you'd call a 'what if' guy.
The way my brain is wired, I'm always running scenarios of possible causes and outcomes (even when I don't want to), and I tend to analyze random details to death.
I'm not sure how you're planning around with ages, but you might want to go back in time less than 20yrs or so before. Otherwise it would put the "Present day" MC at around 40-43 years old, and his mother at around 60+ years old. Or going the other way, would put the MC as a genius for getting into university at around 15-16, and even then it would put the "Pres. Day" MC at around 35-37.
Story-wise I would say it's...doable to go that far back. Although it wouldn't really allow for planning of the MC and Anna to be doing much activity in Ch.4-onwards.
Then again, the concept of time for me (the planning of it), has been a bit wonky as of late.
AAaaand this is why I apologize ahead of time. Honestly I could keep going on forever, but I don't want to muddy the waters too much, on top of what you're already dealing with and thinking about.
Keep it up though, I would like to say at least the worst is over, but I don't know how things work over there. So instead I will say: "Stay strong and prosper."
As for the prequel, with what you've told us, I don't mind paying for the prequel especially if it helps your situation because I think My New Memories is a great game enough for me to want to pay. It's an amazing game. Whatever you decide, I for one will support it.
