where is the map fragment in the southernmost forest area?

What does the cracked tree thing mean? Bottom left of the whole map or the forest? Can't find it for the life of me.

Bottom left area of the world map (desert), near the entrance, in the rectangular grid, one of the trees has a crack in it, that you can blast with your blasting upgrade.

Is the grid on the map or the ground? The entrance to the main biome? The desert also has two areas, the dead tree part and the normal sandy area with palm trees. Thanks! :)
