3rd Heart shaped key item? (minor spoilers)

I'm looking for the 3rd key item. The one that is shaped like a heart and unlocks the door in the sleeping tree. I already have the gold key and the purple star shaped ore. I'm at 100% so I don't know if I messed up somewhere, but can someone help out?

If you're eligible for it the map will tell you where it is. Look for a main objective marker.

My fear is that I might accidentally finish the game without getting it. Can you confirm this won't happen?

You literally can't go through all the content without it. The item is mandatory.
Not to be mistaken for the achievements' definition of finishing the game, they trigger earlier.

If you're like me, and sitting at what seems like the final boss wondering where it is, the item is for the post-game. You have to see the credits roll and then you'll be able to continue playing

I dont understand why you would lie about this.
I was also wanting to try and find this key before fighting the last boss. Found this thread where you said it wasnt possible to finish the game without finding it and so I just continued forward assuming i'd find it naturally.

Instead I find the last boss and get my achievements for finishing the game.

No heart shaped key.

You aren't done with the game. The achievements are too lenient to not lie.
