A short but impactful game that left a lasting impression on me.

This is a masterpiece everything you need in a narrative game, with a bittersweet ending, Ghibli-inspired art style, beautiful and relaxing music, and if you don't understand the story after playing Jack's story dlc just think about the title of the game this is your answer.

Absolutely Beautiful game, I wish it was longer but I loved the story and the interaction. The small puzzles were a great touch! I would 100% recommend the game

It's a fantastic game, a very deep and mature story inferred from the hints provided at every step of the game. There's enough time to sink in what each means with the puzzles to break up the pacing. Did this game win any awards the year it was released? I'm not sure, but I feel it definitely deserved one for the story-telling.

I can't begin to explain how this game makes me feel.

On one hand, you have Amber, brought up in a not-so-perfect family, seeing her role models find happiness only after parting ways. She becomes inspired by them, she takes after them and seeks her own happiness without the interruption of others, a desirable solitude that's seen too often how relationships sour. She sought to maximise her own pleasure, and lives as a free spirit, unbound and untethered to anything, and that's why even at her age she understood how to use a laptop while Jack still relied on letters (but even his revised correspondent letters show hesitation like he's holding back some terrible secret - that he loves her). Eventually, her age catches up to her. She didn't remember that the paints she put in each painting were precious reminders / memories of the time she spent with Jack, until they've all been used up in her artworks. Even then, to Amber the paints were more meaningful on the canvas than they were bottled within their tubes. When her senile dementia goes in full force, her memories were to the happiest times in her life, that being the finest scenery, the time where she painted and pursued art with Jack in the purest form without the turmoils of favouritism, office politics and messy human affairs. Or perhaps, to admire each other as muses from afar is her own idea of love.

On the other hand, you have Jack, the hopeless romantic who's already had commitments. He has cats to care for, bills to pay, too much baggage to let go and pursue a life with Amber. He admires her, thinks of her fondly to the extent that he remembers Amber's face, in her prime, perhaps to immortalise the version of her he cherishes the most, the version as his companion in drawing. To choose between the cats or the free-spirited Amber, he chose to minimise the pain he would cause by caring for the cats - even if he were to live in poverty, the cats must luxuriate on delicious canned food. Deep down, Jack yearns for a shared life, a family, a deeper connection with Amber, a life that was not to be, for none can tame the wind. In doing so, however, he bottles up his feelings and deprioritises his own humanity, putting himself in pain, preserving the paint in his tubes and going without bringing his palette when drawing the snowy scene. For if you truly love something, you would set it free... yet all too common we forget the survivorship bias behind the quote. Too easily do we overlook the pain of loneliness that, though imagined, is just as powerful as real pain. At least Biscuit's with him, and at the very least he can put down that baggage and finally face art honestly by Amber's side by the end of the story like a cathartic graduation from pain and trauma.

Artworks are often burdened with untold pain, untold stories too difficult to capture in words. Amber sought to maximise pleasure, Jack sought to minimise pain, and though their paths crossed for a while it's not likely they'll meet ever again. It's a shame because I think they could have developed as pretty decent lovers, with them sharing a kiss in Fluge and all.

One can only hope for a happier fate, one in which their love for each other becomes realised, an alternate reality where they can find joy and inspiration springing from each other on a daily basis.

I guess it's time for me to hope for Taiwanese fan-fiction coupling the two of them together.

I got this on a humble bundle a long while ago and only recently opened it up. It's a very short game, but the story was so beautiful, and relatable, that it's stuck with me a week later.

That being said, I got it for much less than the asking price. Depending on how you value games, it may be hard to justify $12.99 for a 2-3 hour story. Still, I would highly recommend playing it if given the opportunity.

This is a narrative and casual game.You follow a woman in her daily life who pretty much paints and draws everything she sees and gets a story out of it.The story is short but all together, I liked it.
