Boat Crew

Fore and aft 3 inch cannons is best build?
Medics are basically pointless, because your boat will be destroyed well before people die when they wear armor.

So....4 gunners, captain, 2 repairmen and 2 reloaders, with 2 Three Inch guns is best build?

2x 3inch means too few crew and too heavy a setup provided you also carry tub guns, torps and ASW weapons. Could work with a full focus on only the 3inch guns as a MGB design though, especially if you have a squadron for lighter gun support. Biggest drawback is no torps vs. large targets.

Multimission setup with fore 3inch, aft 4x0.50in and tubs with 20mm (2 loaders 1 repairman, no medic) works well if you add Mk27 torps and Hedgehog. Boat is a tad slow though, since we cannot yet do engine mods yet.

No tub guns. They aren't needed because 3 inch work as AA too.
ASW isn't needed either, too rare of a target anyways.
I'ts been my experience that there's no real penalty to maxing out your boat.
I agree that medic's are rarely important.

I typically build to dual 3 inch guns, 20mm tub guns, and a full spread of Mk. 27's.
With this, I usually run 4 gunners, 2 loaders, 1 repairman, and 1 medic.
The last thing I do is arm everyone but my captain with a 50/50 mix of BAR's and Bazooka's as last resort weapons.

I'll usually run the 3 inch guns fully manned for most engagements.
The Mk. 27's can dual role against subs, on the rare occasion I see them.
The 20mm's are pretty much just there for reserve, or I'll have either one of the gun teams, or the rep and medic, man them when I get jumped by aircraft.

I personally hate the rockets and hedgehogs. I think the mortars are the most useful utility weapons, followed by the pack howitzer, with the 37mm and AT gun being distant last.

Why do you think the 3 inch is good? With 2 cannons I have huge trouble fighting even coastal tankers, bombards 1vs1 and sub-chasers 1vs2. The range and DPS is so low. Bofors and even Oerlikon meanwhile let you fight even destroyers.

DPS is irrelevant, total damage per ammo and range is far more useful and the 3 inch has huge range over any other auto-targetting gun.

Of course DPS is important. Especially since 3 inch has such SHORT range. MGs of patrol boats outrange it. Same with some other ships - you have to get close enough to recieve a rain of bullets to shoot. I tried switching to dual Bofors and I outrange ships and only have to dodge the shells. I did not check the damage per ammo but i could kill far less stuff with 3 inch than with Bofors with the ammo i have.
It's similar with attacking land except there Bofors is far far more ammo-efficient than 3 inch.

I don't think any rapid fire gun outranges the 3 inch. Lmao.

That's not thinking - that's imagining. Try playing the game.
The game states muzzle velocity of 1000 m/s for Oerlikon and Bofors. And only 400 m/s for 3 inch. Now that you have at least this bit of data from the game try thinking about it.

You're aware that...Velocity doesn't dictate range entirely right? Lmao. The Yamato's 18.1 inch guns have less than 1000m/s velocity. Guess their range!
How can i switch between for and aft cannons? Didn´t find it out!

You don't need to. They're auto-fire guns.
I have a Hovizer in front and a Bofors aft. They are NOT auto firing! I have to choose them.

Bofors fires automatically when you 'scan' a target.
Howitzer needs to be manually fired.
