Torpedo Tubes & Racks - What is the difference?

Is there any mechanical differences between the tubes and racks?
Is it just a different firing angle, while meaning it takes up more space?
I can't seem to find anything about the differences.

Outside of sometimes impacting what other equipment you can mount the tubes usually take longer to fire, and if you turn before the torpedo leaves the tube it will screw up the firing angle
