Fish Trap Bait

I have no clue what to use. Is it a recipe?

yes it is, sort of , the fish traps use slop as bait. Now to not waist ingredients, take what ever ingredient you have the most of ( meat, veggie) and make grilled meat or grilled veggies, then take the stack of grilled meat/veggie and put it in the recycler to get bait.
you will need to put fresh bait in the fish trap after each fish catch.

3 quests give aquariums 4th gives the recipe.

Do you have to have all of the aquarium built? Also, I just did the razor fish quest and got recipes, but not one to build aquarium for the razor fish.

no you dont have to build any of the aquarium if you dont want to, but you may get a quest for one of them later.

what I have found is if you see a school of fish and put the traps there, the traps will catch the fish from the school. Other wise they will catch a mixture of the fish around that island. so yes if you want to catch rare fish from other island, you will need to place traps there.
