WTF I can't make any MONEY!!!
I'm fairly disappointed that I have to pay for everything and I have never been paid for anything. There's no obvious way to sell anything. And the quest board is always empty!
So, how are we to progress?

you can sell things to the rat guy. your priority at the start of the game is t get the lighthouse fixed. once that's done you can start making money

The Lighthouse is fixed. I'm getting tourists now, but I can't figure out how to sell stuff to Renard the Rat.

Also, why do I have to pay for everything and do all the work? That Renard is the Laziest POS in the game!

Have you tried the notice board at the center of town? Town residents give out paying quests for various items. That is how I am making money at the moment, while trying to build out the town shops.

once you open the cafe you will make money from the tourists. When you go to Renard's shop, at the top of the screen there is a backpack, click it and you inventory will appear, and you select what you want to sell to him, Setting up food carts, vending machines etc will also let you sell items to tourist.
its a slow process at first, but you will make more as you expand the town. It wont happen over night.
the more shops you open, the more carts you have , and the more things for the tourist to enjoy, the more you earn.

Earning money is really tough for me as well. Tourism is ramping up a bit but it's slow going overall and the boat upgrades are very expensive, comparatively. :(

its a challenge for all of us, it takes time, but thats what the game is all about. Farm, salvage, cook, sell. Eventually you will earn more. With 30 tourists and lots of carts, I earn about 4500 every time the tourists come,

Surprising things will net you money from tourists. Leave out some barbells, any of those spring rides, a telephone booth, anchor statue, whatever. Those critters like taking pictures of/riding/lifting all sorts of junk. Best of all, those are all pretty cheap/sometimes free when you get a decoration from a townie.

I just discovered that by making Beach Chairs and putting them out for the tourists we get paid 5 gold coins each from the tourists. More chairs means more money!!!

But I gotta say it's a total rip-off for the tourists! Could you imagine spending all your vacation money to visit this slum where there is absolutely NOTHING going on and virtually no economy at all? It really adds new meaning to the words "TOURIST TRAP". And that Renard is the greediest and laziest SOB on the island, We do all the work and source all the materials and pay for all the blueprints but he's the one who gets the lion's share of the profits.

In real life when that happens ...when tourism comes to town prices go up! Everything becomes so expensive that the people who live there can't afford it anymore and they get priced out of their own homes. Their little island Paradise becomes a postcard picture-perfect hell on earth in which nobody lives.

You can make quite nice summ of money by cooking (meat + berry dish sells for like 12g each), also dig up diamonds (10g?) and any instant-collect stuff like serf-boards, broken furniture pieces - those sell for 10-15. Then there are house decorations (walls, roofs etc) and clothes items you get from NPC quests - those sell for 15-25g each.

Each constructed town building provides another 125-ish $ per toursit season even without expansions (you still have to pay for blueprints, those cost starting from 200, 300, 1000 etc).

Each storm restocks and respawns items on islands, so you can gather same stuff again, just generally go loot whole island, return to Renard and check how much everything costs.

If you are in a dire need for cash, you could just sell everything you scavenge (excluding basic resources) for everything between 6-12 gold a piece. Includes broken furniture, pipes, old surfboards, quartz crystals etc. Making stuff with the base resources to then sell is also an option, I guess, but I rather keep the basic stuff around for when I need to make more refined materials.

Just checking in to see if things are getting better. It's slow at first and tourist shop will buy things 24/7, just click the top tab to backpack. You will make money from the museum also. I have so many coins I don't have anything to spend them on and you will also. When the new update comes, maybe we will need the extra then. Happy gaming.:steamhappy:
