Food for Critters

I;ve noticed that each animal wants a certain kind of food. Is there a list of which food to give each one? Sometimes they are not happy with what I give them to eat

There is an extensive Character List[crittercove.fandom.com] on the Wiki. I've included the main portal but just look for the NPC name you want to check and click on their name. If the Likes and Dislikes have been gathered yet, they will be listed. Anything you aren't sure of, like what is that icon denoting, click on that icon and it will take you to the Wiki page for it showing you the items within it. The listed categories of Likes and Dislikes covers Clothing, Furniture, Food, even Job Roles and Style. Very Comprehensive.

part of the fun of this game is discovering the likes and dislikes of the townies , and seeing the funny reactions when you give them something they dont like/hate. In order to fill in your own critter journal pages you have to experiment and give them different stuff.

once you give them what they like/dislike, the information will be put in your critter journal to look at any time.

I totally agree with this. However, I have a TERRIBLE memory. I can't remember from one minute to the next what some of the symbols refer to. I certainly can't remember which characters like which things. So I have been doing trial and error, but this resource is really really awesome nonetheless.

The symbols are fairly straightforward
Drumstick icon = Meat
Carrot icon = Vegetable
Berry icon = Fruit
Salt Shaker icon = Salty
Fish* icon = Fish
Wrapped Lolly/Candy icon = Sweet
Chilli icon = Spicy
Poop* on a Plate icon = Gross

*The Fish icon is specifically the in-game Pizza Fish, which looks like a slice of Pizza
*Not literally 'Poop' but that's the easiest way to describe it

If you press 'N' on your keyboard, or just switch to the Relationship(?) Menu (the Cat with a heart above it) while the game is paused, you can see a list of all the Critters living on your island, next to their picture you can see their likes & dislikes, if you've discovered any of them.

ya those lists are difficult for all of us to remember.
I open the wiki a lot just for that reason
