Critter Cove

Why no new things to do?
I have housed all the tent-dwellers and done everything I can for the islanders, the crabs, the radio tower etc. I still have empty houses in town and have helped at least 4 castaways, but all I can say to them is "Good luck". No offers for them to move to the Cove. I even did all the tasks on the to-do-board. But no new missions, nothing. For hours and hours.
Do I have to collect 10,000 monies and buy the 3rd tourist upgrade for anything to happen? I really don't want it, because I am earning less money now due to "accidents" with people who's heads are on fire and no clinic. I love puttering around and diving, but that can get boring as well!

Have you filled your museum?

How do I tell? Is there a list or something, or do I just have to wander through the whole thing and see if anything is missing? If so, that's even more tedious than diving! ;-D

So, you have done your museum. If all the pictures are on the walls all the shelves and pedestals have something on them and all the show cases on the walls are lit up in both sections, then I would say you are done.
I read somewhere the other half will open up and be some kind of food court, I guess we will see.
I am just scavenging, planting more gardens, decorating the town, stocking my machines for tourists and raising lots of money. Then I go shopping, waiting for the update. :)

The 10k upgrade does unlock some more questline stuff for both Renard and Anchor. I think the 17.5k does as well? Can't recall.

As for what else to do... It's EA and still in bugfix time, so I'd say start over and be... creative. Try to do things out of order, see if you can break something.

there are 3 more tourists upgrades to get, and lots more for you to collect and learn.
yes the packages seem expensive, but they also increase you profits each time and open up new quests. I have 30 tourist visiting each time now and my town looks busy and I earn between 4000-5000 each time, so you earn the money back.

There are a lot of things you have not accomplished yet.
There are 62 recipes to discover and cook,
There are 39 artifacts to find and donate to museum.
There are 19 kinds of fish to catch.

These are all challenges for you before we even get the next major update. Information on cooking and fishing is now on the wiki, and new things are added everyday as several of us are working hard.

And you certainly need to help more castaways now, as you can recruit 15 of them to your town, for a total of 19 villagers now, not counting yourself or the Professor. If you still have curtains closed in the museum then you have lots more to find.

To see a list of things you have collected/achieved , there are chapters in the journal you need to see. Open the journal to the crafted page (the hammer ) and hit X to go to the next chapter, there you will see items collected, a chapter on museum items donate, a chapter on fish caught an recipes cooked. Lots of pages there for you to brows thru.

To increase your profits make sure you have lots of carts, stalls and vending machines full of items for the tourists to buy when they visit. A list of items to sell in each of the carts has been posted in discussions here , on discord and is now on wiki too. And decorate the beach and town with fun items and chairs for the tourists and villagers to use.

Have fun. I challenge you to catch every fish and cook every recipe.

oh and if Sammi asks you for Loaded Lookies, say no because you cant make those yet, but he keeps asking for them anyway.

I don't get it. Filling the museum would be one of the last things to do, wouldn't it? I haven't even filled all the houses yet.

Thank you for the tips and info. :-)

Found the "overview" under the hammer icon.
All muddled together - eg. green salad, marble slab, blue card, slop.
I find tourist info, but no town info, so no idea how many in town.
I counted my friends and I have 19 of them, but still empty houses in town, as I said.

All I have as journal entries is A Boatload of Tourists. Nothing else.

When I click on the buildings in the top row, all I get is tourist info with either the last visit summary of income or building information for the Workshop, no other buildings. Have clicked on x and z and pressed x and z and those are the only 2 views I get.

Do I have to buy the 10,000 buck tourist upgrade to be able to invite more castaways to live in Critter Cove? I have done the tasks for at least 5 castaways now, but when the final dialogue comes up, I only say "Good luck with that." or something similar... every time. There are empty houses in town and all the folks in tents have moved into their houses.

I have been decorating the town, but I can't make many of the items for the carts and still haven't gotten blueprints for vending machines.

I have been fishing out near the oil platform. So far I get garbage, squidlets and the green fish and a Pterodilly or something. Are there different fish in different areas, or do I have to fish 1000 times to get them all.... and will that then trigger something when I do or is it just for "fun" (my right pointer finger does not appreciate too much fishing). Not being snarky, just not the most enjoyable thing I do in the game.

ok so go to the page for the hammer at the top in the journal, then hit X on the keyboard and it will show you chapters in the journal for specific categories of items. Each one will show you what you have and what you dont have darkened out in red, but you can still see the name of the item. Where as the first section you see is a combination of crafting recipes learned and others in black, so you cant see what you are missing.
Then hit X again and you will see the next chapter, there are 5 chapters in all. one for items collected, one for Museum items , one for fish and cooking recipes, and one for crafted items
There should be directions to hit X and chapter titles but some one forgot, and the devs are aware we need more information there.

All the fish, bait required and fishing locations are now on the wiki , so you can see where to go to catch different fish. the key I have found is to relax when fish, and give it half a second before hitting the mouse button , you dont need to be the Flash on it, which I found gives you more garbage, so relax you finger. Some fish are definitely more rare on the bite rate, it took me 8-10 tries to catch the manta ray that was right in front of me, but I got it. Right now all the fish cook up the same in the recipes, but we might have different recipes for different fish later. The recipes are also on the wiki.

by the time you find the professor you should have found 10-12 museum items, and you want to put as many as you can in early on, as the museum earns you profit as well, the more items, the more tourists will pay to see them. I have found 39 items to donate and have all the possible display curtains open. Its a challenge finding many that are well hidden
