Why bother with medium planters?

They are the roughly the same size as 3 small planters and cost more and are a bigger hassle to make.

I've found them to be meh. Can't seat as many plants in as small a space as you can with small planters. May be useful for some who have a small garden, but me, I have a plantation and it needs to be kept in order.

They require slightly more space, use rare materials, and have no benefits over small planters. The simple answer is to not bother with them.

Could have just built 150 small ones XD for less materials. XD

I set some up because I thought it would be more convenient, but I find them super obnoxious. While harvesting/watering I constantly end up accidently replanting the wrong crop into them, so I vastly prefer lots of small planters over a few medium planters too.

As far as planting ,well make sure you only have the seeds on you that you want to plant and put seeds in your hotbar so you can select them for each planter

Taters are one of the most useful plants, and it's annoying to make sure you only have seeds on you. It doesn't have to be neat, it's more efficient and easier to organize with small planters. It's harder but "looks" better with medium, and thats the only benefit they serve.

Each of the islands you can boat to have different crops growing on em. Just pick some of the wild plants, you have a chance to get seeds. IF you get unlucky, or just want more seeds; you can feed plants into the recycler to get seeds.

I have 202 small planters on my current setup. You can easily do 6-8 each action of the watering can, and when they're arranged in rows you can do one group after another pretty speedily.

Rate of 2 seeds per plant. So yeah, if you want a lot of flour and bread, you're going to want a LOT of planters dedicated to the tators, since you're giving up half a crop to plant the next crop.

carrots are growing on Hotter Tropics island and you can pick them there, then put them in the recycler to get seeds for you garden.
Tatordrakes grow on 5 Crabs and Boomerang islands, and you can pick them there and make seeds in the recycler as well

tators are small plants that look like little clumps of grass in the wild but you will get the Gather message when you are close to them. You will find a few on the beach next to the radio tower near a large rock on the waters edge. Once you know what to look for there are a few on the other side of the island and some on the center island on 5 crabs.
