After cooking the first meal, I had trouble trying to experiment. It seems that the last recipe used is automatically selected so when you return the campfire, items are red. I had to click a blank square for the last recipe restrictions to go away. Will it be possible to set experimental cooking mode as default?

Hello! Press C to clear the cook pot & go back into experiment mode. Sorry about that, we will get that fixed.

when using controller I'm unable to hit anything when cooking with both campfire and cooking station

Yeah, same on Deck. The campfire is just not responding to anything except being able to close the screen.
Also, that cat told me to cook the weird chicken drumstick flowers but the recipe left hand screen shows no recipes at all.
So cooking is off limits to Deck users at this time in my experience.

Update: I got the cooking station at last and it acts exactly the same as the fire. It opens the screen and not one button/trigger on the Deck could do anything. I even tried touchscreen but nothing. So yeah, I cannot complete the cats basic Cook Meat quest.
Very annoying not to be able to cook food as I heard there are some very handy recipes.

I have just come across 2 meals I don't have any clue how to make they are seafood pasta and spring rolls anyone know how to make those yet?

I didn't have a problem using steam deck with this game, it was formatted as xbox. I won't go into it, but the steam deck is garbage. My first time getting back on Critter Cove with my ASUS ROG, I can't cook anything now. No buttons or touchscreen interact with it. The ROG is also formatted as xbox.
