Capturing Ships

How do you capture ships?

You need to gain a skill perk from lvling up by attacking pirates and bounties, then you can use it in your captain's log on the bottom skill tree to gain the skill to capture ships you taken from melee. Took me awhile to figure out as well, but I guess when the full game comes out, we be set to rank 1 on everything

Best to disable the ship first by knocking down a mast. You need to then pull up beside them and when close you'll see an option to grapple. Hold Space (I think) down for the desired time and you'll pull in close and then board.

Awesome had to replay a lot of battles trying to work out how to do this! may need a tougher ship!

I got blown out of the water a few times before realising in this scenario you need to disable the ship. Hit the rigging hard! Remember to use the correct shot.

agreed! its quite hard as they hammer you before you have chance :P

I just point blanked ships with grapeshot and their mast fell down then you hold spacebar to board and capture don't need to do anything else really
