I know mods are cool, but I do prefer when developer does it, i just don't have patience for the hassle.
That ^^^^^was a fantastic question.
Don't bother with illusion games in general, then, they are made primarily for Japanese audiences and explicit depiction of genitalia is forbidden by law there, so Illusion doesn't bother modelling that stuff. There are other Japanese developers that do western versions with genitalia modelled, Green Curry comes to mind, try Succubus Cafe.
Illusion Games's main strenght is customization which is heavily complemented by mods, they are the Bethesda of Eroges, their games are very high standard, but without mods they become very boring very quickly.
If you know, you know.
That's what's called a false positive. Get a better AV.
Apart form what was already stated by someone else, that devs tend to not develop genitalia that won't be seen ( The Sims and The Elder Scrolls come to mind ), it's illegal for a japanese company to sell a product featuring geniatlia, even IF it is censored and you can't see it, if there is ANY posibility of you removing the censorship ( i.e; removal of a blur shader ), they've now sold you an product that's obscene, and they can face legal consequences.
Here's a pro-tip: Any game published by an Japanese company will always be censored. No exception. This is because of Article 175, better known as "censorship law" of Japan. Which prohibits Japanese companies from selling "Obscene" material.
The only way to see Japanese games uncensored, is if it is sold by a non-Japanese publisher. However, publishers take their cut, which can often times be pretty steep, ontop of Steam taking their cut, so the question then becomes: Is the amount of people that don't buy it because of censorship high enough, that if they got a publisher they'd get an higher revenue, than they currently get by self-publishing?
Most publishers take an 30% cut, out of the 70-80% recieved from the Steam sales ( i.e; after steam's 20-30% cut ), so unless the amount of people that'd only buy an uncensored version stands for a total of 30% of Illusions current revenue, it's not economically responsible for Illusion to get a publisher purely for the western market. Which is why they haven't. This is also why AliceSoft decided to self-publish, as the 30% cut from Western publishers is pretty devistating for the small AA indie titles of the porn industry ( it's an fairly nichè market ).
It is pointless to sell eroges to Western Audiences in general, not only because it is niche but because the West has a huge anti sex culture when compared to East Asia, so not only you are losing a ton of money for a very small market, you will have the Neon Haired Inquisition harassing you and the platforms you sell in so they forbid them because the virtual characters make neon haired landwhales feel insecure.
Laws are complicated, and Article 175 especially so. The question is, is Geen Curry\MIGI Studio producing enough profits that it is worth the time and effort of criminally charge them? If not, it's unlikely they'd be criminally charged, this is why a lot of manga artists get away with selling uncensored versions of their mangas in certain conventions, just not worth going after them most of the time. But Illusion or AliceSoft are in that bad spot of being fairly prominent and big companies, so definitely would be worth going after.
However, I'm aware that selling outside of Japanese markets can be interperted as NOT breaching A175, but the potentional legal battle might not be worth it to create this precedent. Which is why big-companies are very vary of tempting this fate.
The most common way to skirt around it, is creating a sister company stationed in the west, and have it publish. issue is, This is far, far too expensive for a small company like Illusion.
No, I disagree. Most of Europe has a sex-positive outlook as long as you look away from the religious ( Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Romania, etc ), or stuck-up nut jobs ( Germany, UK ), you'll find that sex is widly accepted. Though in recent years it's become a bit more conservative through import culture from the US.
However, gaming tends to be quite the nichè for most of Europe, partly because it is expensive to all hell. While games themselves MIGHT ( that's a key word ) be regionally priced, hardware isn't. So an PC in Czechia for example, costs the same as in Norway. making it 3 times more expensive to a Czech person, than a Norwegian person.
Too be fair, Illusion has bad history\blood with the west from the rapelay debacle, which definitely factors into their decision making when it comes to commiting here.
I am from a Mediterranean country, and sex is way more accepted in the UK and Germany (which is by far the most sex positive place in Europe for what I've seen when I lived there, granted, I haven't lived in Germany for almost a decade now) than it is down here, in any of the big three (Spain, Italy and Greece). Places like France are also weirdly puritanical for all the fame they were supposed to have. Won't comment about Eastern Europe since I haven't lived in any of those countries for a long time, but the West is copying Americans constantly and that is really NOT a good thing, at least in this matter, since Americans are, for all intents and purposes, the bad guys from Zardoz.
I dunno, here it is very strange to see anybody under 40 without a gaming rig, many of them being old and so on, but in general e-Sports are a thing here (not to the level of Korea but not something I would call niche)
Yeah, which is why we will never get PlayHome here or why they censored the Darkness DLC for Koikatsu
