I may also have to develop a new saga story for it, but I hope I can get in touch with the copyright owners for the Disciples games.
I have ideas on how to improve the game play but basically it will play like Disciples 2 but will look much better.
I don't even think getting copyright is that hard, but I am not sure. If you can't get copyright and you are sure you can make a great game, I hope it will be a similar story to Dungeon Keeper and War for the Overworld. Dungeon Keeper was a cool game, made in the 90s, but EA ruined it and made a crap mobile game in the end. Some fans made pretty much the exact same game, but with many improvements and new graphics and just gave it a different name, it's here on steam and it's pretty good!
Can you post the exact link? So you will use unreal engine? That's fine. I would even try to use unity, disciples would probably work in unity too.
Original devs bankrupt and Akella buy copyright to produce Disciples 3 developed by .dat and Hex-Studio (Undead Addon). So then copyrights moved to Kalypso Media and they developed Disciples 4 ('Liberation').
Personally i don't wanna Disciples from Kalypso or other game studios - only from fans made it with Love.
