Solution 1 (if you have multiple playback devices such as headphones/speakers)
Select playback device before launching the game: If you're using headphones, try plugging in your headphones/changing playback device to headphones before launching the game. If you're playing on speakers, change the playback device to the speakers before launching the game.
- Note: The game plays its audio to the device that was selected before launch.
Solution 2
Make sure the music/sound settings are not zero and relaunch the game.
Solution 3
Try verifying file integrity:
1) Launch Steam
2) Click on Library (a button next to 'Store' at the top)
3) Right click on Research Story in the list to the left > Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of game files
