Slow walking speed

Hi! I just started playing this game on my Steam Deck and I noticed my walking speed is extremely slow. I thought this was how it’s like in the game and that maybe I just didn’t know the run button. But when I looked up other people’s playthrough on Youtube, their base walking speed is much faster. I don’t know how to fix this :( please help!

Hello! Could I check if you lowered your Frame Limit on the Steam Deck? That could be a cause.

If you go to your Steam Deck's performance settings (the button on the right with 3 dots), there should be a Frame Limit Option. Make sure it's set to 60FPS.

Hello! I’ve set it to 60FPS (default) but in the game, it’s 40FPS maximum. I’ll try to see if there’s any way to increase this. Thank you!

This just struck me as what might be the cause. Have you pressed the crouch button? I'm not sure what it would be on the steam deck but on controller its RB this makes you walk much slower and is used for taming certain creatures. HOWEVER its really easy to press the button and not realize it and end up walking half a snails pace.

I had the crouch toggle off! But I figured out the issue. For some reason, Steam Deck will default to 40FPS as soon as I boot up the game. I’m not sure why, despite not setting the game to have limited FPS in the first place. I had to turn the frame limits on and off again to get it to go back to 60FPS. It works now and i’m finally walking at a faster speed 😂
