Resin?
Theo told me that 'only the coniferous trees in the north produce resin', but I've now chopped down five coniferous -- pine -- trees in the northernmost part of the map and I haven't gotten any resin. Is it not in the game yet?

Edit: And the next one I chopped down gave me one resin. That's a lot of tree chopping with very little energy to get one resin. Is the drop rate meant to be that low?

I was wondering where to get resin, myself. Should have thought of pine tar. When you approach the trees is there a "hand" icon allowing you to shake them? I know you can get cherry blossoms and chestnuts that way. Probably won't work for something sticky but it's worth investigating

Okay I tried it myself, and it didn't work, kind of expected that. I got about a 50% drop rate on resin, so you might have gotten unlucky, but if the RNG is huge the "new energy solution" might cost more than it helps.

The campfire seems to last forever, though, so that's something

I was able to get a slightly better drop rate as I continued to chop pine trees, but in a game where you begin with so little energy it is still too low, imo.

But that's good to know about campfires -- I was wondering whether they would be worth building.

I agree, and the energy gained from the roasted chestnuts is...pretty low. But it *is* another option, which is always nice.
I'll caveat that "forever" probably means "a season". I haven't gotten to that point yet.

Lol. Thanks for the caveat on the campfire longevity. Still, a season for one torch is a decent trade I think, although I haven't been able to able roast chestnuts yet so I may change my mind.

Thx, I never knew you could buy resin from the woodcutter person. :)
