Spark the Electric Jester 3
News: No more Jester Powers
On LakeFeperd's twitter, there's been an announcement that the Jester Powers are too much work to implement, so there won't be any beyond the Reaper Jester.

However, there still may be more Extra Powers, Upgrades, and Moves.

It's my theory but Lake probably wants to make his IP more unique and detached from Sonic and Kirby (kinda like with Freedom Planet 2 and Sonic/Ristar).

Also powers were kinda limited and less useful in StEJ 2 (I prefer to play as Fark in his base form).
I am okay with this. Powers might just not worth it in terms of work to fun ratio. They would be great in a metroidvania as a means of upgrading moveset, but let's face it, if players can choose a power, they will just stick to either the most optimized option or the favorite, just 1 or 2 at most.
If Spark was merchandise-driven franchise, powers would be better in terms of profitability because each power could get its own plushie/toy/card/whatever.

I also remember how Kirby Air Ride and Blowout Blast, two official entries in the franchise that were in 3D, got limited abilities (like limited in time) or not at all (because BB was supposed to be like the first game).
yeah thats fine. I cant get reaper jester to combo into anything with spark default anyway
I'm fine with this. The powers in 2 didn't really add a whole lot other than their charge moves. Neither 2 nor 3 are like 1 where Spark's moveset was rather limited and the powers granted more movement and combat options that base Spark. In 2 and 3, both Fark and Spark are much more mobile (Spark gets a double jump and air dash, and they both get the jester dash) and their combat is more fleshed out than a simple 1-2-3 combo.

Kinda wish we at least got Spark's bat again in 3, but on well.

Honestly I'd still be for getting upgrades like in the Adventure games (like having a double jump, bouncing and other jester moves inspired by Sonic like the Jester equivalent of the light dash he got).

This is also why the elemental shields and the insta-shield from Sonic 3 wasn't in Adventure 1 (well, the electric shield still got its own ring attraction passive effect but no more double jump).
Honestly, I think there is more potential for better gameplay with this decision than in the Kirby format. What I mean is that you get to choose what elements to have and not be forced to only use them with specific powers, even if it were easier to swap between them like in Spark 1's wish mode. Spark 1 is a great game, but the desired qualities were very selective by powers.
I agree, but I wish we could at least have weapons for some combat variety.
I wouldn't be surprised if the new Kirby game has less powers than in Star Allies.

Perhaps we will, just in smaller chunks instead of full jester powers. I do find the alternate weapons to have potential to spice up the animations, but perhaps not to waste an entire power slot.
