@chelsearitchey - yeah, I can def see where similar colors could be problematic. The place where my puzzle glitched was with only 2 flies, a red and a light greenish-blue, so they were really easy to tell apart.

The point is not to put the flies on to the dew points on the web - those are only there to make it easier to see where you are on the web.
The solving logic of the spider puzzle is: place the flies onto the web in the mirror-position of the fly with the same colour already sitting in the web. Note that some of the fly colours are very close in tone - so make sure you are mirroring the correct one. When the fly is placed correctly, it will stick to the web, and another fly of a different colour will fly in (so there are 2 flies flying about). When all flies are correctly placed, a bright gold fly comes in. That one you place at the centre of the web. Then a spider drops down and eats it. And that's the puzzle solved !
