What do lightning balls do?

you can put them on arrows to shoot with your bow for added dmg

The Bone can be used to craft a bow that shoots 3 arrows at a time, the elemental balls can be combined with dark oak to create elemental arrows

They're talking about regular bones, this was before the ancient bone and dark oak were added.
Also had no idea you could do that with dark oak, I wondered what it was for.
