FAQ
We've seen that you have a lot of questions and that in-game clarity will need to be improved, but until then we'll give you this FAQ so you can get through the game easier :)

- How Does Reputation work? -
Reputation is one of the most important mechanics to understand in the game!
The base rules of reputation are as followed:
1. Reputation is measured by the Amount of Faction Clients x Regional Faction Appeal. Appeal is build by constructs that makes aliens happy to live in a region.
For example, if you have a region with 3 Settlers, that has their prefered constructs a Drill + Waterpark (2) you will have 3x2 = 6 Appeal
2. Reputation is measured globally. Appeal is measured regionally.
3. There are 4 factions of aliens in the game: Settlers, Scientists, Builders and Botanists.
Each of these factions want to live close to their preferred constructions, but will often have overlap among the constructs that they like.
4. You build reputation with each faction individually, and by doing so you contribute to your global reputation (across factions).
5. By reaching tiers you unlock rewards, that being new constructs and craftable items.
6. In addition, you unlock development stars which will eventually allow you to finish a planet.

- How do Resources Work? (SECTION OUTDATED, WILL BE ADJUSTED) -
Resources are naturally an unmissable part in making progress, resources are not materials you can mine, refine or collect in your inventory, it has a direct connection to gaining reputation and a higher influence on the game.
  1. All Resources are mined from World Features or converted with Constructions.
  2. Global resources are Food, Electricity and Money. A resource being global, means that you can use it in any region without added costs.
  3. Regional resources are Minerals, Synthetics, Organics and Metals.
  4. Advanced Resources are also regional resources and are more commonly used after reaching Settler Tier 1. These resources include Biofuel (related to Botanists), Machinery (related to Builders), and Electronics (related to Scientists)
  5. To gather certain resources you need clients to work at the constructions. These clients will be automatically assigned.
  6. If you have a client assigned to a resource that is being used, you can not remove the production construction nor the client.

- Why Am I Not Able to Deconstruct a Construction? -
If you find yourself unable to deconstruct a building that means that the resource that it s generating is being used.
This can also happen for client houses when the client living in the house is working on generating that resource.

- I Have No Food But I Can't Get A Settler to Work The Nutrient Processor! -
This issue is often related to the previous one.
When this happens you can try the following options to open up a client slot:
  1. If you have food in a region with clients but no available clients to work the Nutrient Processor: Power off or deconstruct a construction that is using a client as worker and not generating resources that are needed.
  2. Go to a region with clients that aren't working on a scarce/used resource and deconstruct a house, so that you can build a house in a region with Food.

- How Do I Play With a Friend? -
Just follow these steps:
  1. Start off by both activating Online Mode in the Main Menu.
  2. Both you and your friend need to have made a profile for this to work. So, create your astronaut, start the game and wait until Selly has finished introducing herself.
  3. Make sure the hosting player has their session open in their world or on their space ship and...
3a. Invite your friend through Steam chat or vice versa, and let them join.
3b. Alternatively, as host open the Options Menu and under the multiplayer section top-right, set who can join the session
(Friends = anyone on your friendlist, Invite Only= only the person you invited.
As client, go to the Join World tab in the Main Menu in the to find and join your friend.

- What Are the Optimal Steamdeck Settings? -
Resolution - 1280x800
Fullscreen mode - Fullscreen
DLSS - Off (Doesn’t do anything on non NVIDIA systems)
Quality Anti-Alias - Low (Medium works fine too but FXAA can be blurry on lower resolutions so add to taste)
Texture Quality - Medium
Foliage - Medium (Off will give you a few additional frames but the looks take a pretty big hit)
Limit Framerate - 60 (Sometimes the game will render faster than 60 but you want to aim for stability as opposed to higher max frame rate as that is most noticeable)
Vsync - Off
Ambient Occlusion - On
Subsurface Scattering - Off (Will save a couple of fps)
Decals - On (Disabling will also save a couple of fps but is a bigger hit to the looks)
Volumetrics - Off
Bloom - On
Fog - On (Disabling will save a couple of fps but at a big hit to the atmosphere)
DoF - On (The performance increase disabling it is negligible)

These are our recommended settings . The game will hover between 40-60 fps, which is perfectly fine on the deck, but still retain most of its art direction. If you want to max it out you can bump the average fps up by going low/off on everything but that’s up to you. Outside of the game there are a few things you can do to improve performance/save battery life. Setting the screen refresh to 60Hz will save some battery and making sure that the game is installed on the internal storage will mitigate some of the traversal stutters that occurs when entering new regions. During the Early Access we will look into more Steam Deck optimization as well as general optimization which will benefit the Deck as well.

- How Do I Get The Ashdillo Scale? -
The only way to get one before was as follows:
Observe a little Ashdillo getting consumed by a Demaw. After the Demaw finishes eating, it burps out the scale you need. You can lead the Demaw to one if they do not share the region, note that Demaws will hide in the nearest bushes after they stop following you.
That being said, it is updated and currently, a natural blast or high speed vehicular impact will do the trick!

- How Do I Equip The Supporter Kit? -
Thank you for getting it! You can equip it in the bottom of the Gameplay Section in Settings! :)
