a few questions
is it possible to save anytime, anywhere, ideally over multiple slots, so no progress (including player position) is lost whenever one has to or wants to quit?

is there a death penalty? and if so, can it be turned off or is there a difficulty setting where it's not in place? doing corpse runs for dropped inventory, losing xp or whatever nonsense devs come up with is fine as an option, not if it's mandatory.

Hi Dohi64,

The game can be saved at any time, including your position, and you may have multiple profiles("careers") in the game as well.

Currently, you do drop stuff when you die, but this sounds like an excellent option to add for players to tailor their experience. I just had a quick chat with our programmers and this would probably be trivial to add as a toggle-able option. We even have a score multiplier that we can use to 'balance' it, for those who care about that sort of thing.

This won't be available at launch, but I'll let you if it makes it into the game! :)

thanks, sounds good, will keep an eye on the game then. it's early access anyway, no rush to pick it up until it's all done.

btw, by multiple slots I meant within the same profile or career, but it might not be necessary, I just like to keep saves from various stages of games (each chapter or location, before a decision, etc.).

Ah, I see what you mean. Each prospect, or 'planet', is a self-contained experience as well, so you can save those individually too. Say, for example, that you play coop with a friend on one planet, then it's possible to progress freely and without ruining anything by playing on another prospect when your friend isn't around. :)

I got a small correction about the earlier answer though, the tech guys caught me! ;D
We don't save your exact position, we spawn you in the nearest "safe" location. It's never far off from where you were though, so no need to worry about losing progression or such :)

nearest safe location makes sense in a hostile place and doesn't sound like it's the one and only currently set spawn point, like in terraria and such, so should be fine.
