Game didn't save progress

Bought the game for a friend, they made quite some progress the other day. Now they've started the game up again and when they pressed 'continue' it started from the very beginning. With the chapter select it was only able to pick Necken's pond as the latest chapter. Even though my friend played atleast 3 more areas that came after that one.
Anyone experienced the same and is there a way this could be resolved?

same, played like 3 hours and im back near the beginning....

* Where were you in the game when you quit playing (your furthest progress)? the plague village

* Where did the game take you when you pressed "Continue"? played the next day and started at the nearby forest

* What chapters do you have available currently in the "Select Chapter" menu? up too Näcken's pond

I downloaded my game like any other game to the same game file, made sure i had to room too.
I will say tho, I finished the game and loved it :)

Hi! Dev here.

We haven't seen this issue in our internal testing and will do our best to track down the source of the problem.

For those who have experienced this issue, can you think of anything special regarding your setup or play pattern? E.g. regarding where you have the game installed, or how/when you closed the game when you quit playing.

@Dev..SPOILER.................I was in the forge in the mountain where the trolls feed the king. Playing on ONE SSD... 4090/i9-13900K/32GB..Can also show my VOD from Twitch..if that helps.

* Where were you in the game when you quit playing (your furthest progress)?
* Where did the game take you when you pressed "Continue"?
* What chapters do you have available currently in the "Select Chapter" menu?

It happened to me as well early in the game in the giant deer/kitchen scene

- My friend left off just before the Plague village
- After starting the game up the next day, they started at the Nearby Forest
- The chapters available were all chapters up to Näcken's pond

They had to start the game from the pond again and have since then completed the game, however any collectibles from all those chapters have been lost and not been counted for at the epilogue of the game.

Happened to me:

I had just run away from the fiddle player's sound
The game took me back to The Nearby Forest
I had The Bedroom and The Nearby Forest available tin the Select Chapter menu

It was pretty much only the game progression, everything else seemed fine and unchanged.
