Abilities are somewhat random on the champions and heroes. That is to say they have a certain range and base value, which may not be the same for all of them. They usually have one or more fixed abilities, for which we know them, too. They can have the super-version of their core abilities, too, but not always. I have a Roland the Paladin who is a prayer master and a second version who is a super prayer master.
Mystic X is indeed random. He gets five random abilities, and always has a melee and ranged magic attack. His resistance is always good and he has above average hitpoints, as well as a mediocre defense. But it depends wholly on his random powers, if he is useful or not. At least he has the lowest upkeep of all champions :)
Just checked and no problem
Roland the Knight - first time
Aerie the Illusionist - second time
Mystic X - third time
P.S. I'd used manual save before turn's end - not autosave.
You keep referring to her resistance number as if it is something superbly great. She has a very high resistance due to the charmed ability. But usually resistance levels above 10, or maybe a bit higher are not that useful. Resistance is only used to resist certain magical spells that would detrimentally affect the statistics of your unit or change the behaviour of your unit. Very important to save against those effects as otherwise your unit will typically be of very low use in the rest of the fight (or even dead in the case of disintegrate). And you really don't want that with your hero. Some of these spells have a penalty to resist, so best to have a resistance a bit above 10. It also protects against poison.
Any melee, normal ranged, magical ranged attacks, magical damage spells are defended against with the defence score, so that score is usually more important than resistance (after around 10-12 resistance).
This (doing fights after saving can influence the value thats then being used), plus some kind of correcting factor because even with different seeds after 1-2 summons i keep getting the same heroes (mostly X, Deth Stryke and the Paladin). The first one seems to be mostly evenly distributed tho.
Usually a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wildcard, because the skills dont work together.
