Romulans the worst faction?
I did not enjoy my Romulon playthru. I did not want to accept the feds help. The option not to never lit up. Also there really needs to be a way to prevent the loss of Romulus. This is not a fun game mechanic. I felt forced down a path I didn't want to take way too early in the game. It was a much disliked plot thread for the Romulons created by JJ Trek movies that many of us do not like or consider relevant Star Trek History. Either get rid of it, make it an option or allow us to stop it on our own.

Id prefer an earlier start too. I'm not a big fan of the Next Generation time period, but I am likely a bit older than the average gamer and they need to sell to the market. Moving the capital would be a great idea. After all Nations do have the ability to do that...

Starting from the Khitomer Accords in 2293 rather than the Khitomer Massacre of 2346 could work, as it would give a bit more time for Romulus to exist, and would allow for a suggestion from one of the Bajor threads (that Bajor start as an independent nation rather than a Cardassian vassal) to work, as the Occupation ran from 2318 to 2369. Starting 50odd years earlier would also make independent Betazoids and Bolians make more sense.
Oh well.

I'd love to see the whole Kelvin timeline go away....

@bratacsga I concur. It would be very interesting for the Romulan player to be part of the planning and execution of the Khitomer Operation. It would also be interesting if the player could choose to do something else instead.

Hmm, yeah. They should probably swap the placement of the Romulan system with the Devron system, especially because the Devron system was actually in the Neutral Zone in the TNG finale

I don't think the devs can make up their mind if they want to stick with following canon and lore or not. They seem to have absolute hard-on for having the Romulan supernova event, because it is canon, but completely ignore the Dominion war which is single handily the biggest event in the Alpha quadrant impacting all four playable factions.

So what we have currently is just this half-way house where the dev don't know what direction to take. Given the map isn't canon, and in dev post 8 they even admit that, and they completely ignore other canon events and faction lore, I'd say they should go down the path of it not sticking so rigidly to canon, and so make the Romulan supernova event preventable in some way.

Only mention of the Dominion that I've seen is in the Cardassian mission tree - they can become candidates for Dominion membership, which gives +5 districts to all their planets, but doesn't bring any Jem'Hadar through the Wormhole

I am ok deviating from canon if it makes the game more fun and adds replay value. If we take a look at the scripted events in Paradox's Hearts of Iron, most of them allow the player to choose a different course, even a radical departure from WWII history. I don't see why we can't have the same options here.
