Bajor
Trying to save Bajor as Fed, but can’t figure it out. I read on other sites you can ask the cards for Bajors liberation and when they refuse, you can go to war. I don’t have the option to ask for their freedom. I’ve gone to war multiple times and won, but never have an option other than a humiliation war.

It’s like Bajor is another one of their planets and not a puppet.

Any suggestions? I keep the cards opinion of me really low hoping they’ll initiate a war.

Only played it "from the other side", but you need to be fast. Card can assimilate them right of the bat and after that it is over, Bajor is just one Cardi planet.
Guarantee independence right away and prepare for an early liberation war or intervention war, depending on how Cardi goes around doing this.
Same here, I have around 200000 Fleetpower and they 30 000 ... not able to do a claim on that planet or any region ... not able to change war doctrine !

Have all diplomacy settings with Romolaner and damn Cardassians just destroy them step by step ... not able to help them or conquer their planets back !

NOW I AM TRYING with a spy to destabilize that planet, but seems also no chance

Damn once again a game, where they only "give you ONE path", else it is broken !

Also have the problem, that klingons have also worse settings so I am not able to fly to the Borg mission places ... but this could be overcome, when I declare them war !
Still lot of diplomacy options are missing !

Half the mission tree options get blocked. It's really disappointing.

I might be a bit late to the party, but here is the solution to peacefully liberate and integrate Bajor into the federation:

Right from the start cozy up to the Cardassians by Improving Relations - that's going to be helpful anyway, since they're the only ones to potentially declare war on you early on. Get the relations up to the point where the request to Liberate a Subjet is at -50 only - that's the Base -50 that cannot be changed by any other means.
And then get the Diplomatic Solutions Ascension Perk. That will increase Diplomatic Action Acceptance by 50 and you can click the Liberate-Button with the Cardis accepting it.

Got Diplomatic Solutions, cozyed up, diplomatic acceptance was "0", waited a few more years for positive relations, still "0"... figured it was 50/50, so I asked to liberate subject...

from "{recipent.getName}", it was rejected and now I'm permanently stuck at 1825 days before I can make another liberate subject request in an ironman game... sigh, I guess I'm "forked".

Seems like most people who play this game do not understand the entire lore that the USF made deals with Cardassians first. This lead to a lot of later on events happening as such with DS9 and the Maquis Rebellion. The game is based on this fact and many lore events.

Seems like you're right. I tested it just now.

However, at some point I got some "Diplomatic Action Acceptance Modifier" that increased the acceptance by 15 points, not sure where that came from. Combined with "Diplomatic Solutions" however, it worked and they released Bajor.
The other solution that i tried (after Bajor was integrated by the cardies) was to
!) Send an envoy to harm relations.
2) Build up a whole bunch of shipyards at the bases behind the ones near their border.
3) Queue up a ton of ships.
4) When the shipyards have ~50 days left till the first ships get built, delete every single war ship you have.
5) Since you have no warships. cardies see you as week and declare war.
6) Since you are now in a defensive war you can put a claim on Bajor.
7) As they move their ships into your territory your shipyards pop out the first round of ships and you can begin to push them back.

Naturally your bases along the border need to be built up and have plenty of defenses as they will need to slow down the approaching fleets as much as possible till your new fleets arrive. You must win the war, to keep Bajor.

I've tried joining a war when cardies declare war on a minor race, this does allow you to put a claim on Bajor however, i find the minor racers always declare a status quo and never push for full victory.

What worked for me was asking the Cardassians to release their subject. I think Bajor is chosen by default, but make sure they're selected. Then wait for Cardassia to decline.
Once they have. Wait a few turns, then go into Bajor's Diplmacy and select Liberate. It'll start a war with Cardassia then. Make sure you leave the objective as liberation and don't accidentally change it humiliate or another option.
After that, conduct the war as you see fit as long as Bajor is cleared and occupied. Make sure to have a few ground armies to occupy the surface of Bajor after you take out the starbase.
