Difficulty Settings
So, What are your comments/suggestions/descriptions of difficulty settings for the game? Going to check out the game tonight, BoTF was always too easy, even on impossible, and from what i've heard about this game is it gets boring when it's too easy, so I think a challenging difficulty would be best to start for me.

I have never played stellaris though, so should be interesting.

In that case, I'd recommend Captain or Commodore difficulty.

Both give bonuses to the a.i. that should give you quite a run if you've never played Stellaris.

Ensign is the 'normal' difficulty - no bonuses/penalties for anyone.

Cool Thanks!

Is the AI that bad that without a bonus it is an "ensign" level??

My first play through I did not notice you had to manually adjust the difficulty from Ensign. The game was pathetically easy and galactic tension never rose above 12 percent, making it very difficult to claim systems. I started a new game at Commodore difficulty now.

Lack of difficulty was BoTF's most glaring failure in my opinion.

Please let me know how this works out.

Captain/Commodore most optimal for play, admiral + just give ai more of res, but it not use them smart and simple spam tons of corvets armadas, same like in vanila stellaris, also have cheat bonuses in warscore, and easly can win war even when lost all fleets and half systems

Where do you change difficulty?

On the screen where you select your empire, there's a button towards the bottom right labeled settings. Missed it my first game.

I thought i was setting the galaxy to large ( paying attention wasn't my best at the first playthrough ). Turned out i had set research to 5. It took aaaaages to research anything. ( thought the next slider i had set to 1.5 was for research ) :steamfacepalm:

On Captain diff, the game is boring. As UFP, I already doing better than other empires in early game. I did so well that romulans became my best friends. o.O

The experience is quite similar to a stellaris game, just with too few empires. There are no wars, just planet manadgement.

In my opinion, the starting territory of the major empires are too small.
