Building Defense Stations

a Stellaris vet but I can't build defense stations for level 2 stations. how do I build them?

There's also that you can't switch them between small, medium and large for weapon sections. At least, I haven't found it yet, lmao. So either I'm blind or that particular button is missing in the Ship Design.

Yeah, it's weird. The default station is a Medium Platform, but the only one I can build with New Design is a Small Platform. Very strange.

That sounds similar to what folks are encountering if they want to manually design ships other than their starting frigates.

There has got to be some checkbox on some screen where turning off this behaviour is hiding in plain sight.

I believe it is connected to the ship design issue. Simply go to the ship design tab on the left and uncheck the auto-generate box in the bottom left.

the issue is not designign it but uilding it at the stations

On the Starbase Tab, the one that shows Modules and buildings there is an "Open Ship Designs" button on the bottom of that screen only that when clicked brings up the platforms to build. Makes NO sense for why the button is called that but that's how you can build defense platforms on any station.

there is a starbase syxmbol shown on the galactic map and the solar system, next to the systems name. click on it and there you are. Starbase menu opens and you can build moduls and/or upgrade it. Starbases can handle smaller fleets and buy you time to get your fleets there.
