Why am I colonizing Denobula and Risa?
Is this game just early access without saying its early access or did I miss a conversation?

not to derail the thread, but are you sure that one is a bug? there IS a duplicate Riker in the Star Trek universe...

I am sure. My Picard disappeared and was replaced by a second RIker.

Yes, and New Xindus became a member in 2311 .. so what do you try to point out?
That Denobula was a member at around 2150 so It would already have been colonized at game start. Did I miss something?

So, the same goes for any other Member Planet before 2345 then?

That they should be colonized? you bet. Risa should be a pleasure planet. I am waiting for a few patches before I delve in so maybe you can tell me? Is Risa a pleasure planet? Shouuldn't be able to colonize it

It is a Game after all ... would not be much fun to have 150 Planets at Game start.

Risa is a Gaia World in Game which can be colonized by the UFP.

I will repeat what i said. I think the devs are not well versed in Star Trek lore which to me a giant red flag. So the Risans and the Denobulans don't exists or miraculously appear later ?
Or it could just be the license that covers TNG, DS9 and VOY doesn't include ENT. In fact, given the Denobulans neither appear or are even mentioned in TOS, TNG, DS9 or VOY one could ask precisely what catastrophe befell the species that by 2265 not only have they vanished, not even the Al-Aurians remember them.
The Risians on the other hand are an oversight.

these oversights are unfortunately not the biggest issue right now.
besides the crashs some people experience it just doesn´t have a lot of complexity.

if you do simple ST games better go with Nu-Trek. Old-Trekkis prefer some meat on the bones...

As far as I can tell the game takes place just as the Federation is founded. In which case Risa wouldn't be a member even if under the sphere of influence.

It's because the game starts with the Khitomer Massacre.
Risa didn't become a Federation planet until afterward.
Ok, but Risans still lived on Risa at least. They didn't spontaneously just appear there all of a sudden.

There are no Risans. They don't even exist in the game.

The opening event is the Khitomer Massacre. That's almost two centuries after the Federation is founded (2346, the UFP was founded in 2161). Risa joined the Federation in 2249.

I kind of don't like that the game actually starts already "in" and you cannot start with only one planet from lets say a pre-warp research...I HAVE to compare it to the Stellaris Mod and so far...I had more options there. Starting the game with an already developed Federation space throws way too many notifications and stuff an me...

This is not going to change with future patches and DLC.

The initial 4 colonies in the initial setup are all fixed, so Earth and Vulcan will always be in the Federation and so on.

Everything outside of those initial starts are just names placed wherever and filled with whatever procedurally. This is a game and not a Star Trek history tour. That is by design and is how it will stay.

I know why I'm colonizing Risa :-)

The problem of course being the notable, some may say defining aspect, of the United Federation of Planets is that it's a federation of planets. Similarly the Klingon 'Empire' would be a bit of a stretch if the only planet they owned was Qonos ...
