I kind of worry that so many GS fans seem to expect new games to launch with the same level of quality as years-old games with dozens of major, substantive patches and DLC. If you're going to buy a strategy game at launch, expect there to be a lot of issues -- that's part and parcel of the genre.
I can't even imagine it, based on existing games. Someday I'd love to see a game that actually made that viable -- where you could have planetary governor AIs who you could reliably leave to provincial governor AIs, allowing you to focus on the more interesting big-picture stuff instead of being forced into an endless cycle of minute micromanagement.
Pretty much every grand start I've ever played winds up losing my interest in the late-game because so much of my time is wasted with tedious micromanagement.
Maybe the Valakians finally got their revenge on Dr. Phlox..

.... and that is why Stellaris was a bad choice upon which to build a Star Trek themed spin-off.
Stellaris is nothing but micro.
Risa didn't become a Federation planet until afterward.
Not really, Risa became a Member in 2249. The Khitomer massacre was in 2346.
Yes, and New Xindus became a member in 2311 .. so what do you try to point out?
A resort world like Risa isn't going to be an industrial center, or notable in much other than it's nature as a paradise/Gaia M class (an that was defined), or tourist destination at the onset of the campaign if the game addressed that kind of economy. Looking at the "shorthand" they used I accept it as a game requirement more than a basis for determining complete ignorance.
I'd like to think I know a little about Trek and I'm well aware of the "emptiness" of the game at this point. I expected that. Realistically, anyone who purchased a Klauswitz engine game from Paradox should have seen it coming. Stellaris itself, Crusader Kings, EU, HoI, Victoria all go this way.
I expected to be underwhelmed at the onset. My expectation is that the game will have a comparable trajectory /roadmap to the others where flesh will be added to the bones over time.
For now I'm playing around with the basics and my critical concern is that the "skeleton" works on release. In this regard no issues. No glitches on my end, a clean start on the tutorial in spite of what I'd been reading on the forums.
