"Woke" implies things other then simple representation. In the original Star Trek Uhura was an important member of the bridge crew. Not Woke. But what if she was presented as the only competent character with other characters, specifically straight white guys, acting like buffoons? What if she acts like a stoic peace of wood with no feminine traits? Woke.

Let That Be Your Last Battlefield uses allegory and comments on universal concepts of lingering hate. Modern day Trek is incapable of doing something like that.
