Cardassia - Pops disappear?

Hello,

I am Cardassian. I want to exploit the lesser Races.. with "hard hand" on demographics..

But everytime i change the settings.. the Pops just disappear (bajoran and th other except cardassian). But the Population History shows no change.. so where did they go? is it a bug or is it that they leave the union but it doesnt count for the history?

Addition: I got the events where i can change it again for my pop and the non-cardassians.. i clicked hard hand but nothing happened

It's most likely a bug. As an avid player of the Cardassian Union, I get some of weirdest bugs from that Species tab. Like when I integrate a faction or get loads of pops who move or defect to my worlds, I sometimes can't utilize what rights to give them. Then after a few minutes of playing, it'll go back to normal.. at least, some of the time. Those events you mentioned are in my opinion useless. Why give an event if you can already choose their living conditions in the Species tab? I believe there are two separate events that effect pop rights: one for your founder species and the other for slave/non-founder species.

"Hard Hand" is literally working the slaves to their deaths. They don't have a Defecting Pop History because they are dying, not emigrating. When you hover over the tooltip it will state "Purge Type: Hard Labor", which I suspect is the only purge in the game. When viewing a colony that has these species present, their jobs will be below the worker class (you may have to scroll) and in the undesirable class, producing the resources stated in the species tab. I don't know if this is monthly or upon death. I suspect this is only worth it when facing severe overpopulation or making use of the Experimental Treatment tradition.

P.S. The "Conscripted Slaves" get damage bonuses to their ground armies and, more importantly, are allowed to work as Inquisitors, which the "Soft Hand" slaves cannot do.
