Ooooooooo - new time period; maybe even The Dominion. We might be able to create our own Dominion War. We could have playable Bajorans. They would be fun; re-enact the war from the Bajoran/Dominion side of the equation.
With the Borg DLC you'd get the Borg & Species 8472, thus re-enacting the Northwest Passage incident. Kazon would also make an obligatory appearance.
I guess Stellars has something like that where you become the end game crisis or something.

I imagine if they are in the base game, they would be a dilemma for you to face & not a playable race. I'm getting a lot of "Birth of the Federation" from the late 90s vibes off this game.
I would love playing that scenario.
Talking about that WOLF 359 huh! Enjoy this GEM!
So, let me tell you about the Borg gameplay in the Stellaris mod
Unlike other races, you don't spawn in a solar system but a Unimatrix complex
You progress through ships from cone, sphere, pyramid, cube, battle cube, hyper cube?
compared to other factions, the Borg ships have a high fleet cost, meaning you are almost always outnumbered (but not outgunned)
Completely unique techs, like their tractor beam
Assimilation mechanics? Very fun. Obviously landing armies on planets is there, but they can also do the good ol 'colony scoop' , just taking a ton of technological and organic distinctiveness, then you can back off and let that planet bounce back before your next war.
They also have options for triggering an end game crisis in Species 8472
oh, and for real RP fun, at game start you can have the entire galaxy (or quadrant, depending on which map you picked) changed the name of every solar system to the Borg designation.
Get Stellaris. It's like $10 more than this game, and will give you far more playtime. The STNH mod is free (be sure to grab the very slick Borg UI too)
The STNH community has been around for years and isnt going anywhere.
Get this game too, sure. But if you love the Borg, go assimilate Stellaris.
Its a good mod, The borg was very well done, until the dominion come along. Must do love the uni matrix 01 storyline where some of the collective breaks away. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3049367490
No need to bet they already said as much...
