Borg Storyline / Janeway
So far i have thoroughly enjoyed exploring and playing this game.

But its flaws start to show.

This thing needs a proper tutorial and a better guidance through story requirements.

F.E.

How in the world do i get Scientist Janeway to become Admiral Janeway.
Or how do Diplomatic mission for the Enterprise work so that i get the Troy Goal complete.

This is getting increasingly confusing and annoying.

OK, I can help you with Troi...

Go to your contacts for minor races and request mission. The ones where you need a science ship at a highway node are the only missions that'll count. So do them with the Enterprise.

FYI, I had a buggy experience where I got it to 2/3 and saved my game. When I came back the counter had re-set to 0/3. So make sure you have time to do it all in one go.

Thx.

I´ll try that on my next playthrough.

Cheers

That is not entirely correct. There are three mission types that work. In addition to the one you mentioned there is some "Joint Science Project", where you have to send a Science Ship to their homeworld and monitor their sun or something. And then there is the mission that's about a "build up of forces" between two minor powers, where you can side with either one or remain neutral. If you side with one of them, you're being asked to send five military ships to a system as a "show of force". You can send four other ships plus the Enterprise, that counts as a diplomatic mission as well.

However, i agree that it should offer more variety. It won't hurt making Picard a governor as well, so he can do the Peace Conference thing.

The part of the mission I am stuck at (in 2380 though) is having the Enterprise being victorious in a military engagement, as I never fired a single shot at anyone. Worst case I'm going to have to invade the Nausicaans when I got some more powerful fleets up and have the Enterprise just sit at a distance.

If you let some time pass and keep exploring you will come across pirates, and they will start periodically sending fleets to your systems, Its fairly early game still so the enterprise alone wont be able to handle them, Send another fleet in first, wait a couple weeks in game then send the enterprise. That way there shouldnt be enough enemy ships to focus the Enterprise down. For some reason it seems like every combat the Enterprise goes into in my games it gets focused as soon as it warps into system

I tried those other two oddly enough...and it didn't check off for me for some reason.
