So. the Federation......

Ive won a few times with Romulans and decided to try the Feds. Is there NOTHING to do as them other than watch science ships fly around and to assimilate people?
This is the most boring grand strategy game ive ever played. Ive finished 2 games on differnent difficulty as the feds and won both without ever firing a phaser other than at borgs. Nobody ever declared war on me i was not allowed to ever claim a planet to attack and nothing happend. Just sat here for a few hours clicking the mouse till i won.
This game, my 3rd, i decided to go down the article 31( whatever its called) patch because i thought that was the war monger feds. Nope. Still cant claim a system, i was lucky enough this 3rd game to be able to liberate Bjorn in a short easy mode war but other than that once again im just sitting here clicking the mouse till i win.

What is there to do as the federation?? Explore is auto-done, missions are easy except Troi which took some time but was still just clicking the mouse till i got it, i cant declare war on anyone for a reason other than to humiliate which oddly seems the most unfederation thing to do ever.
Can i ever claim a system and go to war? Is there literally anything to do other than smacking the borg around?
Sooooo bored so anything might help.

If you do mods, I just now released a mod that lets the Feds (and anyone else stuck with Liberation Wars philosophy) go on offensive wars.

I hope you like it, and that it works as expected in a full game. I haven't been able to do extensive testing yet, but there's nothing that should break, except wars of liberation.... but I deemed that an okay sacrifice. My current testing hasn't shown any issues though.

Yup, of all the major factions the Fed gameplay is the most boring. I did like the concept of having a true flagship to play around with aka the Enterprise but it didn't really compensate for how tedious and uninteresting the forced diplomatic playstyle is.

I actually don't mind the relatively peaceful gameplay. However, it does feel like none of the AI opponents will declare war on me when I play as Federation.

I like the playstile. Its Star Trek and as a huge fan, i dont want an aggressive FED style,. cause thats not Star Trek.

Doesn't going section 31 in the tech tree allow you to break away and do invasions? Just a curiosity question for those who have played a few times as the federation.

^ It does. I like this new mod. Just wish I could claim more than 3 systems. Already won wars against the Cardassians and then the Romulans tonight.

Yes, pretty much each faction has a so-called renegade and paragon path in their respective Mission Tree.

i have section 31 as i said, and i still am not allowed to make claims and take territory. i can only do wars of humiliation which are worthless.
