I dont know how they did with DxWnd, i'm still in awe.
Interesting. It runs so well on my machine. I guess YMMV.
When people who are uninitiated into the ST lore play this game they get a very distorted picture of the star trek universe especially its proportions.
So I am still waiting for the first ST grand strategy game that somewhat corresponds to the series and movies. You're supposed to have thousands of colonies and ships. Not 4 or 5 lol.
Sure it was Paradox's doing so they feel more special.
Cant we just call a spade a spade here.
"What card are you holding in your hand" "That's a spade!" "No, its a grand spade!"
Now that Galactic Civilization 4 Supernova is out maybe there can be a Star Trek conversion. I just saw a video and the gameplay looks very similar to BOTF, except fo the battles, that looks in a way worse with less options.
How funny is that huh? All these games have absolute trash combat, and have not managed to to pass the bar BOTF has, and im not saying BOTF combat is prefect it needs work for sure. but compared to what we get now?
If there ever was a BOTF 2, I picture it having combat a bit similar to Battlestar Galactica Deadlock
I am glad it runs much better then back in the days for you.
What about multiplayer?
Personaly i am fine with infinite, as i do not want to switch back to turn-based.
Yeah the desyncs need to be fixed.
Have a Mutiplayer game in progress now! So you get this program called "LogMeIn Hamachi" and have everyone connect to that, that program makes it look like you are all on LAN, worked without a problem.
Don't forget GameRanger. If you have a problem with Hamachi, try this one.
Perhaps a term like Historical Strategy would have been better, but at least nowadays Grand Strategy refers to a distinct category of games that is related to but distinct from the 4x genre.
Paradox is just being lazy and calling their 4x games Grand Strategy because that's what they have traditionally made.
