Wasn't BC 1 really bad? I've not heard a single one of my friends speak good of it (The VR one)
NGL I didn't the second I saw Paradox behind it, with their track record as of late and propensity to focus their efforts on how they can monetise the ♥♥♥♥ out of a game I had a feeling this would have next to no basegame content and would then make us pay later down the line for any of the cool races we'd want and so they can flog a ton of DLC. I wouldn't mind so much if the contents of this game was worth paying the full price tag for.
It feels like they just rushed this and did the bare minimal to get it out the door. It feels like an alpha build. I don't know wither to blame Paradox, or the bad dev that Paradox chose to rush this out. Sad thing is it seems like it would have been so easy to make a good Star Trek game out of Stellaris; it just feels like they didn't even try. New Horizons mod is miles ahead of this game, and you can tell those modders are dedicated trekkies
I have a joke which this game inspired;
"Is 'Being put on the Star Trek Game' the game development studio's equivalent to timeout for a naughty employee? All the games feel like the devs were tortured to do it."
It seems crazy that such a beloved, long running and expansive series cannot get a studio with some passionate trekkie nerds who'd cream their panties from black to white to get their hands on the IP. I mean we know STO has won awards and actually does good ♥♥♥♥ with their handle on the series, so why can't any other game?
The whole game is a platform to make better Star Trek mods.
That said, it's disappointing they didn't put more effort in.
In the meantime, Armada 2 is still pretty damned good.
It's like a good old TNG episode.
STI is a good game, it has some bugs, which have to be fixed and it needs more content. But that is all.
