XBox Controller Issue

Hi, I can't play with my xbox controller and there's no option to select it in the game menu. I also checked with the steam settings but there's nothing wrong with it, am I missing something?

Hm...can you try unplugging the controller, closing the game then plug in the controller again and restart the game? We tested on Xbox Controllers so that should work..

Thank you for the prompt reply, I've tried unplugging the controller, restarting the game, steam but that still didn't solve the issue. I can't see the controller in the game options either.

That's really weird.

But the controller does get recognised by Windows?

Of course, I play some of my games with the same controller such as Fifa 23, ETS 2, A Space for the Unbound..etc.
P.S: Game looks amazing, visuals are beautiful and I can't help but get some Fable vibes.

Is the controller connected via Bluetooth or via USB cable?

It's connected via xbox controller wireless adapter.

In this regard it would be very helpful if you could provide us with information about your setup:
Which Windows version is installed on your PC?
What exact controller type are you using (old Xbox One (no Bluetooth support), new Xbox One (Bluetooth support), Xbox Series)?

While we're taking a look at this issue, you could try to connect the controller via USB cable. That should work.

Windows 10 Pro,
Ver. : 22H2
Controller is Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller, no bluetooth (connects through wireless adapter) sorry I don't know which version is it but it's one of the new ones.

P.S: There's no cable connection option for the controller (or there is but I just don't have the necessary cable and since it's wireless, I never used it with a cable)

One final question about your controller: Does it resemble the upper or lower controller in this picture?

(Is the Xbox button part of the controller's faceplate or is the plastic around the Xbox button only part of the top, where the bumpers are?)

Is it possible your drivers (for the controller) are out of date?

We tried to replicate the set-up on our end and for us connecting the controller via the Xbox Controller wireless adapter worked. We're able to use the connected controller without issues.

Therefore, to further investigate this issue, we would like to ask you to do this:

- Open the main Steam Window
- Click Steam -> Settings
- Click the 'Controller' tab
- Verify that the controller is detected (and is the only peripheral attached to the pc)
- Click 'Begin Tests' to verify that the controller is working

If this works but the game doesn't you can try to
- Enable Steam Input for Xbox controllers
- Enable Steam Input for generic controllers
- Check if the game works

Extra step:
- Make sure the game window has focus by clicking with the mouse on it

Hi,
Issue was related to a not so uncommon bug which is called "Ghost Controller" after a bunch of solutions, I've finally forced my system to recognise only 1 controller. So the problem is solved and game now runs on my gamepad.

Would it be possible that you could explain how you did this? I'm having a similar issue, but with a Dualshock 4 controller over both Bluetooth (my preferred) and wired.
