Why is the game so blurry?
Title. Setting FidelityFX to ultra makes it at least playable, but just barely. Turning it off doesn't seem to run the game at native resolution, in order to get what looks like 1080p I need to run it at 4k. Is the game supposed to look this terrible?

Same on my end :/

The game is developed by one person, that's why.

This game isn't for people that put a high emphasis on graphics, it's never going to look good on a large 4k screen.

If you want to make a minor improvement to the games graphics then download ReShade here:

https://reshade.me/

and apply the stock shader pack to the:

"UE4Game-Win64-Shipping.exe" executable file in:

C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Black One Blood Brothers\Engine\Binaries\Win64

or wherever you have the game installed.

Once installed open the game, hit the Home key on your keyboard to open ReShade.

Clip Skip Tutorial and check the boxes below for

Lumasharpen

and

Curves.

These will make the blurring go away (a bit) and increase the definition of scenery and objects slightly.

Try any of the other shaders on offer if you feel like experimenting.

Good luck.

I can't stand LumaSharpen but the AMD Fidelity FX CAS always looks pretty good so maybe that's worth a shot.

You've not read my post properly or you've misunderstood the issue. I have a 1080p monitor but running the game at native resolution looks like 720p. In order to make the game look like it's running at 1080p I need to set it to 4k. There's some kind of bug with the upscaling being used where you seem to be unable to turn it off despite having an option for it.

Try DX12, I think steam automatically launches the game using DX11. It made a bit of a difference for me. You can force dx12 in the general settings for the game by putting -force-d3d12 in the launch options. It's still got some blur on like, foliage and stuff but it seems like it helped a bit at least.

There's no way this isn't a bug. On a 1080p you have to play on a 4k resolution to get a decent result, playing at native resolution makes even menus/text blurred and makes it look like it's downscaled.

it's blurry because of the poorly done lighting and overuse of bloom.

only way to fix that is to unpack the whole game and edit the lighting settings but that's time consuming and has to be done each update...

to be honest the game is not that good. i get it's only one dev but it's def no ghost recon or r6.

the AI is still bad, they tend to stand still and react in an unrealistic way,

the lighting is bad on many of the maps (looks very similar on various maps) the same yellowish tint, lots of bloom and blur.

some maps are very unfinished like the oil rig map which has floating pipes in places.

it's obvious the game has been thrown together using available assets. same goes for direct contact which also has an oil rig map and some of the assets look identical but the maps and lighting are finished to be a better standard and the AI is better on that game and that is just by one dev.

the maps are more realistic on direct contact, some of the maps on this game have a fantasy feel to them and really don't go with the theme of the game.

so if you want better realism, better lighting and map design and better AI go with DC and avoid this game.

i'd also recommend ground branch but only when the AI is of a better standard. at it's only slightly better than this game. doesn't have the erratic movement but still poor as it stands.

The game was 4:3 but says 1920x1080. Everything looks like plastic on very high. What happened? If i turn textures down to high there are no textures. Only colours. Remember the old game Army Men on N64? Exactly this is how it looks like (not sarcastic). I´m a little bit shocked. It was fine bevore. This needs alot of work now. But i´m sure Helios will do well. He always did.

Switching on AMD Fidelity FX got rid of the blurriness but tanks the frame rate from 120 fps off to 70 with it on the best quality pre set.

I thought FSR was supposed to increase frame compared to just using native res, maybe I got that wrong.

Whatever it was. Now its looking good. Maybe last time the shaders did not load right. I have no idea. All fine for me now.
I found turning post-processing to low greatly helped, but the game still looks like it has some weird frosted glass filter, especially when looking up at foliage. I don't remember it looking like this, slowly working through the settings trying to figure out why it looks like visual vomit but man, this is a deal breaker.

Motion blur, DoF, chromatic abberation, and other unnecessary screen/tonemap effects, always forced on by developers and they often don't give us a way to disable them. Seemingly, it's chromatic abberation that is usually the worse offender, I see that ♥♥♥♥ forced on in many games and the devs have the audicity to not even so much as provide an options setting to disable it. I sometimes wonder if devs are trying to simulate the effects of macular degeneration on human vision when it comes to enabling some of these effects.

For Unreal-based games, such unwanted visual effects can be manually disabled through tweaking the ini files of the game, if you know what you're doing.

Direct Contact lmaoooo
I figured out that turning special effects to low fixes the weird texture on hair and eye brows.
