Sure, Avatar does deserve a big AAA game. But it's not going to happen. These people are just stupid.
The game is serviceable. My biggest complaint is the online co-op can be very unstable.
What really pisses me off about these people though is a lot of the negative reviewers aren't even playing it. A lot of the reviews they just have 0.1 hours on record. Like they bought the game and booted it up just so they could close it immediately, leave a bad review, and refund it. They didn't even play.
The disgusting thing about this is it's not GameMill's fault at all. They did what they could with the budget they were given. Nick is at fault here. But by buying the game with the sole intent of just immediately refunding it, all these people are doing is hurting GameMill. They aren't hurting Nick. Immediately buying and refunding is how you end up getting people laid off who did nothing wrong. The people doing this should have their asses beat.
I will say, the concept of the game I enjoy, but the amount of content might not be worth $50. That is a lot of money to be fair and do think the price tag is one valid criticism. I'd say maybe $30 would be good. Or maybe more stuff to do in free mode would change my mind on that. Maybe I want to go back and play as best girl, Suki, but what is there to do? Maybe collect 2 things you missed and then it's just a level with a few scattered enemies.
A game's expectations should correlate with the price tag, if it's a budget game then the price tag should reflect that. As far as I can tell the price tag here, warrants all the negativity.
what people expect though, is a good working game, which is fun.
if you already bring BOTW in the discussion, let me ask you this:
would you rather get BOTW for 60 bucks (or 50, it actually is on sale (physical) pretty often, or that Avatar game for 50?
people would complain much less if its at 10-20 bucks, which was normal back when licensed games were pushed down our throats.
What ive also saw when playing with a friend who bought the game, was that the story wasnt even told correctly, the translations were not correct for many situations, names were wrong for some characters.
People aren't expecting a AAA game. They are expecting a game that gives them a good time for the price point. If this game wasn't $50 it would not receive as much hate. If you are charging $50 there are expectations that come with that.
Atla has a great lore with great opportunities to make an interesting game with an original story.
This ain't it chief.
tbh, its not bad. The PRICE is bad.
like most people already said here, 50€ is a totally joke for what they deliver to you.
Gameplay wise (im talking about COOP) its fun when i'm honest.
Good thing that Piracy exist
