[Suggestion] Save Files
Please have 1 file at the bottom for auto save that's completely different from the actual regular saves, because what happens is the game autosaves over your current file so if you don't manually save 2 files it will overwrite your last save.

Are you referring to when you're playing on Secretary mode? Otherwise, there's always just auto-save. Or if you are talking about in between runs, it does warn you to make backup saves of that file. Not sure which you're referring to though.

I can also add - I'm pretty sure that if you are talking Secretary mode, there's a "cheat" to turn off auto-saves as well.

Yes I realize that, but as an automatic thing autosaves should be in the last file slot, specifically to avoid overwriting your main game file.

Ok, so I see where you're coming from, but I disagree purely because the game is designed to be played ONLY with Autosave - hence why Warden and Prisoner difficulties never allow you to save manually (though... I do still wish you could make a manual save BEFORE leaving the prison on those difficulties)

So what I'm saying is it doesn't really make sense to make Secretary use a different save system than the other 2 difficulties, which is essentially what you're asking for at this point.

Except autosaves aren't only on warden and prisoner. They're in every mode. And even if there is an option to turn them off having them set to the main file is just dumb. Because here's the flaw in your logic, on the other 2 modes where they're automatically saving the actual SAVE option doesn't exist. So the one and only mode it exists on still has autosaves override the main file.

But your solution essentially exists already by just making your autosave file be at the bottom, then saving it where you want to when you want a specific point. Ok, there's one extra step because you now either need to re-save again at where you want the auto-save to be, or reload the auto-save (as the auto-save is still likely exactly where your Manual save is).

And that's where I'm seeing the problem - you want a fix for an issue that will occur for only a very specific subset of cases (that is, those playing on Secretary mode, who want to have autosave on, but also want to have saves at specific locations in the game) when there is a way to work around it as is.

And this 'fix' (unless it's a toggle or a 'cheat') may also confuse people when they move on to playing Warden or Prisoner and the 'autosave slot' now no longer has a meaning, other than maybe being a continue button? But even then, the system would still be saving over the original slot AND the Autosave slot. Probably.

There is only 1 mode with save, in that mode autosave is already an issue that they tried to solve by giving us an option of taking it off, what they should have done instead is simply put it at the bottom. The issue is their resolution was wrong to begin with. A good amount of RPG maker games and other such games have actually also had this very same issue, and a lot of them stumble with it making a ton of auto save slots and having memory issues. But the good ones have actually solved this issue by putting the autosave in the last slot. That's why I'm bringing it up. It's not that they don't have a solution to it in this game, it's just that their solution is kind of a longer one then it needs to be.

It is not a resolution, it is one of the cheat options to allow players manual saves in the easy mode. Locking you in to your run was a design choice. You can still save scum the fight RNG anyway.

Like I told the other guy, in the modes where it autosaves you don't get the option where you save, so it's an irrelevant factor. But in the 1 mode where you do get to save, it's really stupid that it saves over just your main file, because then it forces you to physically create multiple files just to be able to restart close to where you are or disable it outright.

As this person you replied to pointed out, since it seems like you are playing on secretary mode, you can go into the cheat options and the last on in the list will DISABLE autosaving on that mode. Warden and Prisoner do not allow for manual saving at all, and are intended to be played in ironman mode.

So in short the option to do what you ask is already there for easy mode. If you want it in other modes, well you can mod your game to remove autosaving, but then you also need to mod your game to allow saving on all difficulties, which completely ruin the game experiance.

I actually played this game on all modes, the reason I want this option is because on regular mode where you can save it's just more of a pain to save 2 files if you ever want to recover your game at a previous state or disable autosave all together.

I don't know what you mean by regular mode. Do you mean Warden Mode? In which case yeah there is no way to disable autosave, and there is also no way to save manually either.

But you keep saying you can save manually, and the only mode you can do that on natively is easy mode(Secretary Mode) In which case you DO have the option to disable autosaving.

If you are not playing on Secretary Mode then start playing on that mode and enable the cheat.

I don't think cheats are available in any other mode, I think they're only for secretary mode.

That is what I said yes.

But you said you were manually saving, and that is only doable on that mode.

Yea I was manually saving in secretary mode, which is the only mode I'm aware you can manually save in.

That is correct, and in that mode you can disable autosaving.

If you want to play on a harder mode and disable autosaving you can only do that by modding your game, but you will also need to enable saving as well, because if you disable autosaving you will have no way to well save your progress.

It's not that hard to make the change, and I have given directions on how to do it on the discord server.
