Game keeps freezing up

So, this is my third attempt to beat The Dreamer where the game freezes up. The odd thing is it's not the whole game. the paper scraps counter still pulses and music still plays, but the pause button won't work and everything is frozen.

I think it has to do with being in a special zone when The Dreamer spawns or dies.

My first run was with Barb and the lane 1 spear (Dash Spear, I chose triple burst attack). I killed The Dreamer while standing in a mana fountain.

My next was Radar with the minigun wand. Again, froze in a mana fountain.

This run was with Radar and wand again. This time triple burst poison route. I was in an arena when The Dreamer spawned. The game froze up immediately. The only similarity is that I was in a circle zone during a transition.
